Industry peak bodies & regulators

New Zealand Institute of Valuers (NZIV)

Mandatory membership of NZIV is required for all registered Valuers, with Section 10 of the Valuers Act 1948 (New Zealand) setting out its key functions. This primarily concerns professional ethics & conduct, professional development (education) - along with protection and promotion of (1) the valuing profession & (2) the interests of the public - in relation to valuations of land and related subjects.

Australian Property Institute

Formerly Australian Institute of Valuers & Land Economists - professional membership organisation for property professionals whose aim is to develop and supports members, & to advise the community and business. API sets and maintains the highest standards of professional practice, education, ethics, and professional conduct for its Members. Responsible for accreditation for Certified Practising Valuer (CPV) across much of Australia

Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)

RICS is a global organisation headquartered in the UK with its stated aim to “promote and enforce the highest professional standards in the development and management of land, real estate, construction and infrastructure”. RICS claims to have over 134,000 highly qualified trainees and professionals, with offices in every significant financial market.

Valuers Registration Board (VRB) New Zealand

Independent statutory body administered by Land Information New Zealand. The VRB registers qualified valuers who meet the standards and requirements as set out in section 19 of the Valuers Act and in the Registration Requirements Manual

Valuers Registration Board of Queensland

Responsible for the administration of the Valuers Registration Act 1992 (the Act) and the Valuers Registration Regulation 2013. Has an administrative relationship with its portfolio agency, the Department of Natural Resources, Mines and Energy. The Act establishes the Board and provides for the registration and discipline of registered valuers in Queensland.

International Valuation Standards Council

An independent, not-for-profit, private sector standards organisation incorporated in the United States and with its operational headquarters in London, UK. IVSC develops international technical and ethical standards for valuations on which investors and others rely.

Property Institute of New Zealand (PINZ)

PINZ aspires to "to be recognised as the premier property membership organisation synonymous with quality, professionalism and the

highest ethical standing." NZIV has an agreement with PINZ who performs professional administration and management support services on NZIV's behalf.

The Real Estate Institute of New Zealand (REINZ)

REINZ states that it is a membership organisation representing more than 14,000 real estate professionals nationwide

The Real Estate Authority (REA) New Zealand

The licensing and disciplinary body for the real estate industry. It is an independent Government agency that sits under the Ministry of Justice. The REA's objective is to promote a high standard of service and professionalism in the real estate profession and helps protect buyers and sellers of property

Land Information New Zealand (LINZ)

New Zealand government’s lead agency for property and location information, Crown property and managing overseas investment – working across land, sea, data and regulatory areas

The Property Council New Zealand

The Property Council claims to be the leading advocate for New Zealand’s largest industry – property. It also claims to be “the one organisation that collectively champions property, bringing together members from all corners of the property eco system to advocate for reduced red tape that enables development”.

Claims to be the leading advocate for Australia's largest industry, championing a strong, thriving sector that leaves a positive legacy for all Australians

Survey and Spatial New Zealand

Diverse membership including people working in land development and urban design, resource management, civil engineering surveying, positioning and measurement, cadastral surveying, hydrographic surveying and the spatial/GIS sector. Involved in monitoring and maintaining the professional and ethical conduct of members.

Te Kōkiringa Taumata | New Zealand Planning Institute (NZPI),

NZPI exists to embody professional expertise and integrity within the planning profession. Claims to have over 2000 members worldwide. Represents the planning profession in New Zealand. Claims to be an advocate for planning at all levels of government, giving planners a voice and facilitating best practice

Te Kāhui Whaihanga New Zealand Institute of Architects (NZIA)

Membership-based professional organisation that represents registered architects and promotes architecture in Aotearoa New Zealand

The Property Foundation (NZ)

An independent foundation with charitable status, aiming to connecting Academia, the Property Industry, and Society. Stated aim is to achieve excellence in knowledge development to the highest international level and standards - New Zealand facing, and globally engaged.

New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors

The professional membership association for quantity surveyors in New Zealand. Services to members include networking, industry advocacy, professional development, registration, and accreditation of education for quantity surveyors.

New Zealand Institute of Building Surveyors

A national body of skilled, professional building consultants who have extensive knowledge and experience in construction and building related matters

NZ Institute of Primary Industry Management

Designed for New Zealand’s prmary industry professionals, the organisation aims to develop the capability and knowledge base of its members and provide a platform to enable them to build extensive professional networks. NZIPM claims to offer a broad range of professional development events that inform, upskill and expand knowledge base of members providing advice and services to farmers and growers.

Te Tira Whakamātaki

An indigenous environmental not-for-profit organisation dedicated to sharing stories, research, and solutions, concerned with the protection Aotearoa’s natural heritage. TTW’s objectives include reversing the decline of NZ’s biodiversity and restoring balance to our natural world. TTW promotes the ability of Māori to apply their knowledge, culture and perspectives within Aotearoa’s national science framework

Engineering New Zealand Te Ao Rangahau

A not-for-profit professional body that claims to promote the integrity and interests of members, the profession, and the industry. It states its aim as seeking to "bring engineering to life" - having more than 20,000 members.

Valuers Education & Integrity Foundation

Aims to support and encourage the supply of data to assist with public policy decision-making by offering research funding for public benefit projects that meet the Foundation Criteria. The research and information provided is claimed to be independent and free of any political allegiance.

Pacific Rim Real Estate Society

Provides a formal focus for property researchers, educators and practitioners in the Pacific-Rim Region. Along with other regional members, forms the network structure for the International Real Estate Society (IRES) for developing international property research and education

The International Real Estate Society

A federation of regional real estate societies aiming to enjoy the benefits of global co-operation including facilitation of faculty exchanges. Land Record Search

Search for and purchase land records online, such as a title, survey plan or other instrument. Search can include records by address, title identifier, or survey number, or alternatively use an interactive map to locate a specific parcel of land.

LINZ Geospatial capability

Access to geospatial data from Land Information New Zealand for export to multiple formats and projections for GIS, CAD, API. Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand is working with others in New Zealand's geospatial community to develop geospatial capabilities for use in decision making. Complements Stats NZ Geographic data service platform for statistical geospatial data.

Landonline

RICS Valuation – Global Standards ('Red Book ')
